(2018) Philosophical principles of the history and systems of psychology, Basingstoke, Palgrave Macmillan.
This concluding chapter considers major "turns' in the Contemporary period of Western psychology; these include: the "Linguistic Turn," the "Performative Turn" (associated primarily with Postmodernism), the "Cognitive Turn," and the "Historical Turn." On the one hand, Contemporary psychology is found sufficiently embroiled in politics and culture so as to call its methodological-grounding into question and to justify a comparison with time in its history when it was inextricably entwined with ethics and morality. On the other hand, the impact of the "Cognitive Revolution" on psychology has been nearly normalizing. Thus, this chapter discusses the influence of these "turns' in the sciences and humanities on psychology, while re-emphasizing the importance of philosophical principles and incommensurabilities for the study and practice of Contemporary psychology with integrity.
