The parafinite and self-positioning

In this chapter, I begin with the prehistory of the Kantian parafinite or indefinitely large in the thought of Galileo and Leibniz before continuing the discussion of self-positioning in Kant's First Critique in Chap. 1. Next I extend the Kantian notion of self-positioning to what I call second-order self-positioning in Kant's Second Critique and then compare the demands of theoretical and practical rationality in Kant's late Opus Postumum so far as self-positioning is concerned. The chapter ends with a discussion of symbolism in Kant and Blumenberg, here understood as what I call higher-order self-positioning.
