Settling space (the cosmic expansion of the biosphere)

Eric M. Jones

pp. 133-139

We are going settle space. The first explorers -20th Century equivalents of Columbus and Cabot, Cartier and Bering- have already returned to port with reports of new continents. Advance parties will soon return to the Moon, go to Mars, and travel among the asteroids to make preparations for settlers who will follow: settlers who will build homes, raise families, and find ways to be self-supporting, much as terrestrial pioneers have done in the past.
